Estefanía
Education has been a key driver in Estefanía’s journey from holding undocumented status to becoming a U.S. citizen. Her experiences with educational inequities spurred her civic engagement, culminating in her naturalization in 2018, which she celebrated primarily because it gave her the right to vote.
She believes that all Californians deserve the opportunity for self-fulfillment and economic stability, whether through street vending, starting a small business, or any other venture. Estefanía’s work aims to facilitate dialogue among diverse stakeholders—community members, vendors, local businesses, and policymakers—to find mutually beneficial solutions and promote coexistence.
In all of her efforts, Estefanía underscores the role of civic engagement in building belonging and supporting small businesses and immigrant communities, even for those who cannot vote due to their legal status. She urges all Californians to use the power of their voice to advance local issues that matter to them.
