Emily Diem Tran
Whether they're advocating for elders, organizing with Viet Vote or interacting with family or other community members, Emily Diễm Trần keeps the concepts of inclusivity and intentionality at the forefront of their mind.
Tran’s background as a vocational nurse combined with their accounting skills led to the discovery of a passion for providing care and services to older adults.
In May of 2023, they graduated with Distinction from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s in Gerontology and minored in Asian studies. Tran has plans to continue towards a Doctorate in Public Health with an emphasis in Human Behavior.
They currently work for the city of Chula Vista, where they are the Management Analyst overseeing the Healthy and Age-Friendly initiatives for the city.
Tran also makes time to organize and volunteer within the San Diego Vietnamese community with Viet Voices, formerly known as Viet Vote.
Consistent throughout Tran’s life journey are the themes of reclaiming one’s cultural identity, speaking up for the marginalized, engaging in compassionate listening, and questioning harmful assumptions.
