LA Health Action
A program office of The California Endowment, LA Health Action was created through a grant to Community Partners, a nonprofit organization that provides program management, coordination and technical assistance to local and statewide initiatives.
LA Health Action's overarching goal is to expand access to health coverage and care to all Los Angeles County residents through policy and advocacy, coalition building, linking existing resources and making grants to local community-based organizations.
Some of LA Health Action's accomplishments include:
Identifying and recommending projects to The California Endowment for funding, such as a community mobilization effort in South L.A. and an adult chronic disease initiative focusing on heart disease, diabetes and obesity
Funding research and advocacy efforts such as a report on L.A. County safety net financing and a study on the service implications of downgrading King-Drew Medical Center to a community hospital
Creating and supporing regional technology solutions, such as county-level, Web-based health data resources, an LA Health Collaborative listserv and Health-e-LA
